Nutrition After 40: A Sustainable Weight-Management Framework
A useful nutrition plan after 40 should be nutritionally adequate, realistic enough to repeat, and flexible enough to survive ordinary life.
Start with meal structure
Instead of chasing a single “fat-burning” food, build meals around a protein source, vegetables or fruit, fiber-rich carbohydrates where appropriate, and fats in portions that fit your goals.
Protein matters
Protein supports muscle maintenance and can contribute to satiety. Needs vary with body size, activity, health status and goals, so people with medical conditions should get individualized guidance when needed.
Use fiber-rich foods
Vegetables, fruit, legumes and whole grains can make meals more filling while contributing micronutrients and fiber.
Think sustainable, not maximal
For weight loss, energy intake matters. But the most aggressive deficit is not automatically the best one. A plan that repeatedly triggers excessive hunger or rebound eating is not serving its purpose.
